With the addition of an SSD, the upgrade is now complete. Had to find a way to Beaconsfield this arvo with Boyter (spent a bit of time wandering around the 'burbs) to pick up a couple of SSD's. The "shop" was in the front of some guy's house. Literally. But they were cheap and fast so all was good. Ordered & picked up on the same day. I've actually ordered one from MSY but they haven't called me so I have given up on them. Typical MSY.
SSD's are are so small and light you wonder what on earth you are paying for. "Will this thing actually work?" you wonder.

The result?
Well I still need the RTM version of Windows 7 (running RC1 at the moment) but overall it is running very nicely. The SSD isn't quite as fast as I thought it would be, however I did install Windows on a normal SATA (actually I think it was IDE originally) drive then ghosted this. So I will see how things improve with a fresh install.
According to Corsair, you don't need to apply any tweaks to the OS to make it run well on SSD's. I did a couple of tweaks anyways. Cos I can.
The only real mod I've had to do so far is for the mobo, create a SPDIF socket on a backing plate so that I can run a coax cable to my amp for audio. The mobo has an optical jack at the back but no coax (I knew this at time of purchasing...). That's all sorted now though, so sound can be heard by all.
The mobo also has onboard graphics which is obviously disabled... however does support some sort of weird hybrid SLI which sounds so so dirty. SLI with some big video card and onboard graphics? Weird.
Oh and one more thing: Egg + piri piri sauce on a roll is a great snack.
